GFX Computers respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we look after it. We have written it in plain English rather than legal jargon.
Who we are
GFX Computers is a local IT support business serving Aberdeen and the surrounding area, registered in Scotland (company number SC525624). For anything relating to your data, you can reach us on 07503 668009 or at [email protected].
What information we collect
We only collect what we need to help you. That usually means your name, contact details such as phone number, email address and the area or postcode you are in, and a description of the problem you would like help with. If we carry out work on your device, we may see files and settings in the course of doing so, but we do not copy or keep your personal files.
How we use your information
We use your details to respond to enquiries, arrange and carry out appointments, provide support, and send you an invoice or receipt. If you are an ongoing business client, we may keep basic notes about your setup so we can help you more effectively next time. We do not use your information for anything you would not expect.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your information to anyone, ever. We only share it where genuinely necessary, for example with a payment provider to take payment, or if we are legally required to. Any supplier we use is expected to handle your data responsibly.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it, for example to provide support, keep proper business and tax records, or handle any follow-up. When we no longer need it, we delete or securely dispose of it.
Keeping your information safe
We take sensible steps to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. As an IT support business, good security is something we practise as well as advise on.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, and to ask us to delete it where appropriate. Just get in touch and we will help. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office if you have a concern about how your data has been handled.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of essential cookies that are needed to make the website work. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it; this sets cookies and collects information such as pages visited and approximate location. When you first visit we ask whether to enable analytics, and no analytics cookies are set unless you accept. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, or through your browser settings.
Third-party services we use
Some features of our site and service rely on trusted third parties, and using them may involve your information being processed by those providers under their own privacy policies. These include Google Analytics for website usage statistics (only with your consent), Square for online appointment booking and card payments, and mapping and postcode-lookup services (OpenStreetMap, CARTO and Postcodes.io) that power our travel-fee estimator when you enter a postcode. We only use reputable providers and share the minimum necessary for each feature to work.
